Walton Woods Pond: Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion

$425.00

This original framed painting captures Walton Woods Pond in winter with an air of mystique - the icy pond juxtaposed against the snowy bank and darkness of the thick woods. This illusion series was posted to social media 06 Jan. 2026. The birches in the forest are fast-growing pioneer trees, symbolizing youth, while the snow and ice evoke sturdiness and protection.

Walton Woods: Walton Woods is one of the last forested areas in Amherst, NY, part of the Eastern Great Lakes Lowlands. The area was once swampy forest used by the Seneca Nation and later converted to agriculture. Its marshiness protected it from industrial development, unlike the nearby Tonawandas and Niagara Falls. Today, the forests are being lost to suburbanization. The pond and woods form part of a migratory bird corridor and provide a glimpse of the area’s original landscape.

Key Features:

  • Original varnished plein air oil painting (3.3” x 2.3”) on archival Bristol board

  • Black frame (6.5” x 5”) custom-built for the piece

  • Mounted with archival (non-damaging) methods on archival double matting

  • Museum glass provides UV protection while offering clear, glare-free viewing

  • Ready to hang (wired) and certificate of authenticity included

  • Geolocation of painting site and Walton Woods facts enclosed

Environmental Responsibility: Created with high-efficiency, solvent-free methods that reflect years of intentional, low-impact practice. Shipped with high-end gallery packing practices and intentionally sustainable, recyclable materials.
