Sustainability
Nature has always been my refuge and the core of my creative life.
I honor it in my daily life and work by making intentional choices that support the well-being of the planet and by holding myself accountable to grow and improve how I care for the environment.
Solvent-Free & Optimized Painting
I’ve spent years developing a solvent-free, efficient painting process that makes the most of every material:
Mindful paint use: I use only what I need, respecting the earth-derived minerals in oil paint.
Palette conservation: I store paint using specialized techniques that keep it workable for weeks or even months.
Tool longevity: My painting tools and brushes last over a decade thanks to careful cleaning methods that preserve them.
Minimal waste studio: I avoid single-use plastics and disposables, choosing lasting, reusable tools instead.
Sustainable Gallery & Studio
My gallery and studio reflect my values. Much of it is built from repurposed materials and designed to avoid excess:
I prepare and frame my paintings using archival techniques so they are made to last
Art is packed in durable, recyclable materials made from 100% post-consumer waste
I keep production low-volume and intentional, avoiding waste that comes with mass production
My digital workflow is self-sufficient, with a very low carbon footprint. I avoid cloud systems that depend on energy- and water-intensive data centers.
Personal Life
Sustainability goes beyond my art and work, and I practice it in my daily life:
Minimalism and a vegetarian lifestyle for 13+ years
Collecting and documenting microplastic pollution to reduce harm to wildlife and support stronger environmental policies
Hosting a native perennial garden since 2019 to support declining and threatened pollinator populations
