THE PROCESS:
Amidst a fresh blanket of snow in search of the perfect spot along the Niagara River. What awaited us was an icy ledge, perched approximately 150 feet high, with a near-vertical drop. While it may seem as if I'm painting from the depths of the Gorge, we were actually around halfway up, an awe-inspiring vantage point for the illusion. With courage and my husband as my steadfast companion, I embraced the challenge of painting so close to the edge.
Battling the cold weather that stiffened my paints and numbed my fingers, I worked diligently, knowing time was of the essence. As I painted, birds gracefully swooped down to snatch fish from the swiftly flowing turquoise river below while passing boats appeared minuscule from our lofty perch.

The Niagara Gorge in Lewiston, NY, boasts a storied history etched into its rugged terrain.
