Dock View, Canandaigua Lake: Framed Plein Air Color Match Illusion

$1,200.00

This original framed painting features Canandaigua Lake, painted from a floating dock. This illusion series was posted to social media, beginning 20th October, 2026. Soft blue sky pairs with deeper waters,  joined by a soft dark horizon, dotted with the impression of boats and docks. The boats symbolize a thread of merriment that weaves through both the light and dark moments of life.

Canandaigua Lake:  As I painted, I watched loons floating on the water and spotted bald eagles flying past. On the drive in, I noticed how little of Canandaigua Lake’s shoreline was publicly accessible in the form of parks or refuges, which I later learned is less than 3%. Loons and eagles, which are species of conservation concern in New York, are among the animals affected by agricultural runoff and recreational activity in the Finger Lakes. 10% of this order will go to Wild Wings, a rescue that homes permanently injured birds of prey and other non-releasable wildlife.

Key Features:

  • Original varnished plein air oil painting (3.3” x 2.3”) on archival Bristol board

  • Black frame (6.5” x 5”) custom-built for the piece

  • Museum glass provides UV protection while offering clear, glare-free viewing

  • Ready to hang (wired) and certificate of authenticity included
