Duck Island, Gill Creek: Limited Edition Giclee Print

$25.00

This signed, limited-edition giclée print captures my plein air illusion of Gill Creek, painted at Duck Island in Niagara Falls, NY. Only 60 will be made, each hand-signed, titled, and numbered. Secure yours today.

Duck Island & Red Osier Dogwood

The illusion features the iced-over Gill Creek, opposite Duck Island, which flows to the Niagara River. A red osier dogwood graces this painting, representing restoration efforts on this creek, which has been heavily impacted by humans, industry, and the local power plant.

Red osier dogwoods stabilize the banks, provide winter food for wildlife, and survive the harsh season by using their red pigments to shield themselves from light damage when they are in a vulnerable state.

I participated in tree and shrub plantings along Gill Creek to conserve the creekbank, which inspired me to paint this view. The peaceful creek, so near the Niagara tourism area, reminded me of the delicate balance between nature and people.
