Cape Cod Whale Adjustable Necklace: Micro Oil Painting on Sea Shell
This necklace features a humpback whale jumping out of the water at Cape Cod, and it is painted on a Cape Cod sea shell I personally collected while visiting there.
DEPICTION:
The whale breaches from the blue and white ocean, with water splashing all around it. Fine details of the whale are captured, such as the lines on its stomach and the spots on its flipper. The sky is cloudy gray and blue with a hint of red and yellow.
MATERIALS:
The sea shell is slim and firm. I deliberately chose it for its sturdiness and rigidness. It has a bit of a wave to it, which makes the painting interesting to look at from different angles. It is a white shell with an almost pearly sheen in some spots.
The leather cord is adjustable. It extends to 28 inches, which is easy to get on and off, even if you have your hair styled. I had a giant claw clip in my hair, for example, and I was able to comfortably get the necklace on and off without undoing my hair.

Humpback whales are known for elaborate courtship songs and displays. (Source: Britannica.) They usually range from 39 to 52 feet and weigh approximately 40 tons. Humpback whales live along the coasts of all oceans, occasionally swimming close to shore, even into harbors and rivers. Humpback whales were endangered but with recent conservation efforts have changed in status from endangered to vulnerable.
