Sea Turtle on Sea Glass Necklace: 10% of sale will be donated to Sea Turtle Conservancy

$165.00
Sold Out

This is a micro-painting of a sea turtle on sea glass, and your purchase will help benefit the Sea Turtle Conservancy. This necklace is made in part with recycled materials: sea glass from the Niagara River. 10% of this sale will be donated to the the Sea Turtle Conservancy, an international nonprofit organization driven to help sea turtles survive. (After I donate the 10%, I will send you a copy so you can see the donation was made.)

DEPICTION:

Against the bright turquoise water, the sea turtle swims above seagrasses and kelp. The turtle’s shell is a variety of calico browns and tans, as if sparkling in the light.

DETAILS:

  • Brown sea glass from Niagara River

  • Oil paint and glossy resin varnish

  • 18 inch gold-plated chain and bail (shiny); lobster claw clasp (clasp is snug—I hate lose clasps)

SEA TURTLES:

Seven species of sea (or marine) turtles grace our ocean waters, from the shallow seagrass beds of the Indian Ocean, to the colorful reefs of the Coral Triangle and the sandy beaches of Eastern Pacific. (Source: World Wildlife Fund.) Due to human activities, poaching, and more, nearly all species of sea turtle are now classified as endangered, with three of the seven existing species being critically endangered. (Source: World Wildlife Fund.)

SEA TURTLE CONSERVANCY:

10% of this sale will be donated to the Sea Turtle Conservancy. The Sea Turtle Conservancy is the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group. The organization believes sea turtles are important indicators of the health of the world’s marine and costal ecosystems, and it is important to protect them.

SEA GLASS’S JOURNEY:

  • Sand was turned into glass

  • The glass was made into products

  • The products were consumed and discarded

  • Water, sand, and wind soften the broken bits of glass

  • I find it on a sandy beach and turn it into something new

I’m certain you’ll be pleased with the quality of this product. I currently offer shipping to the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. If you need shipping to any additional countries, please let me know so I can expand my shipping options.

If you have any questions, please message me. :)
